Lahti Travel — A Dialogue Between Copper and Light
Designed by JKMM Architects in collaboration with the City of Lahti, Finland. Completed in 2018, the project is a landmark transportation hub that seamlessly integrates movement, material, and atmosphere.
Tammet Art & Design contributed copper metal mesh curtain (type 2/3/20/10 mm)—a carefully engineered solution positioned at the intersection of performance and design.
The combination of copper and glass creates a layered, semi-transparent façade that introduces warmth and depth. This approach not only defines the building’s visual identity but also enhances the experience from both inside and outside.
As natural light interacts with the surface, the copper mesh evolves—shifting in tone and reflecting its surroundings. The result is a dynamic architectural feature that highlights how thoughtful material choices can transform technical elements into expressive, enduring design.
Based in Helsinki, Finland, JKMM Architects is internationally recognized for its contemporary approach, where materiality, function, and spatial experience are carefully integrated.
