Tammet’s Gabions Have Been Awarded an EPD

Tammet takes another step toward more sustainable construction. Tammet’s gabion products have been awarded an EPD (Environmental Product Declaration), and to our knowledge, we are the first gabion manufacturer in Finland to receive this environmental declaration.

An EPD is an independently verified and standardized document that describes a product’s environmental impacts throughout its entire lifecycle—from raw materials and manufacturing to use and recycling. It provides transparent and comparable data on, for example, carbon footprint, energy consumption, and other key environmental impacts.

According to calculations presented at trade fairs, the carbon footprint of a Tammet gabion wall can be up to approximately 75% lower compared to a traditional cast-in-place concrete wall.

EPDs are becoming an increasingly important factor in construction tenders and landscaping projects.
